Forte de São João da Barra

This is clear evidence that not all of the Algarve coast has sold its soul to the mass tourism devil. Lost somewhere between fine sands, blue sea and sky, right in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve, the Forte São João da Barra goes back to the 17th century when it was built to defend the port of Tavira from attack.
